The Board has received several inquiries asking what allowances might be made for new graduates who have not yet been able to sit for the Praxis exam. While it is preferred that temporary licensees have passed the exam prior to working with the public, it is not required by Article 22. Licensure Act for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
§ 90-298. Qualifications for applicants for temporary licensure. (b) A temporary license is required when an applicant has not completed the required supervised experience and passed the required examination.
The Praxis exam must be passed before a permanent license can be issued.
§ 90-295. Qualifications of applicants for permanent licensure. (a)(5) Pass an examination established or approved by the Board. (1975, c. 773, s. 1; 1987, c. 665, s. 3.)
