The North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists (NCBOESLPA) will no longer enforce 90-295 (a)(3) of Article 22.Licensure Act for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists requiring clinical hours to be broken into specified diagnostic areas. Moving forward, applicants for a temporary speech and language pathology license must submit evidence of completing at minimum 400 hours of supervised clinical experience. These hours require a minimum of 25 hours of guided observation and 375 hours of direct patient contact.

Please note, applications must be submitted one week prior to board meeting to be reviewed at that board meeting.
On May 14, 2021, the Board voted to make it the Board’s policy to accept telesupervision of temporary licensees as direct supervision, when the supervising licensee has determined that the circumstances are appropriate.
